Couples Therapy

Real couples work
for what's actually happening between you.

We help you slow down, assess the deeper dynamics, and ensure both people feel heard. Often what looks like a communication problem is actually two nervous systems playing out old patterns. We help you step back and address what you want and need in your relationship.

The Process

What to Expect

01

Both Stories Heard

It is important for everyone to begin feeling heard and understood. The early sessions are about assessing the dynamic. This includes the ways that people develop meaningful connection, view themselves, and relate to their own experience and feelings.

02

Patterns Made Visible

We assess these patterns to inform our steps forward and help couples move out of defense and into connection.

03

New Choices

When these patterns are visible, you have choices and tools you didn't have before. We work on building a different way of being together based on what you both choose for your lives and relationship.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Most of the work is together, but there are times we may meet individually with each partner — especially in the early assessment phase or when one person needs to process something privately. We'll discuss the structure with you both up front.

Often what didn't work was a focus on communication scripts or surface-level conflict resolution. Our approach goes deeper — we look at the relational patterns, attachment dynamics, and individual histories that shape how you interact. A consultation will help us assess whether our approach is a good fit for you.

Absolutely. Couples therapy is for any committed partnership — dating, engaged, married, long-term, or in any configuration. The work is about the relationship, not its legal status.

That's worth a conversation. Sometimes the partner who's hesitant is open to a single consultation, which can help. Other times, individual therapy for the willing partner can shift the relationship dynamics in meaningful ways. We'll talk through what's possible in your specific situation.

It depends on what you're working on. Some couples find significant shifts in 8–12 sessions; deeper relational work or processing rupture can take longer. We assess progress with you as we go and don't push you to stay longer than makes sense.
